Recently I have been interested in reading books. I like personal development & self improvement books. Till the time of writing this article, I have read 2 books and another one is on-going.

The recent book I have read is “Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff and it’s all small stuff”. The author is Dr. Richard Carlson. The first edition was published in 1997.

I brought this book from a college library. The first impression I got looking at the book’s title was “hmm, maybe I should read it”. It was at the time when I had stress & anxiety. I used to get stressed easily. So, I thought let’s give it a try.

So, I withdrew it from the library. And when I turned to the page “Contents”, there were the points which almost seemed like tips for not sweating over small stuff. There were 100 points in the contents. When I read through those points, I knew it was gonna be wholesome. And, I had an abstract of what I would get through that book alone from the “Contents”.

The book consists of many simple but useful knowledge & tips for every human being. In today’s world, there is competition in every sector, everything needs to be perfect and fast. This system has degraded many people’s mental health, and we get raged upon for small things. So reading this book made me realize nothing is perfect, not even people or any things, and we choose what can be done with our time.

Some of the topics I personally liked are:

  1. Relax
  2. Resist the urge to Criticize
  3. Seek First to Understand
  4. Mind Your Own Business
  5. Realize the Power of Your Own Thoughts

and so on, there were many other important and useful topics.

After reading this book, I have tried to implement that knowledge, and it’s making changes. Before , I used to rage up quickly, but now I am calm. I try to listen to things first. I am really happy that I read this book. And I would like to recommend reading it to others as well.
